Centella asiatica, also called gotu kola or Asiatic pennywort and shortened to "cica" in skincare, is a perennial plant in the family Apiaceae native to tropical parts of Africa, Asia, Australia and the western Pacific. Korean brands use its extract, and its components such as madecassoside and asiaticoside, in toners, essences, serums, creams, cleansers and tinted SPF products.
